Purpose
PET’s purpose is to advance progressive publishing and education in the social sciences, nurturing writers, building audiences and creating collaborative networks.
PET contributes to vibrant public debate by encouraging research that finds answers to the big questions of our age. PET has a passionate team, with an international Board of Trustees and a worldwide network of authors, scholars and activists.
Publishing
While PET is not the only charity committed to the advancement of education in the social sciences, few own independent publishing houses on the scale of Pluto Press or a stable of academic journals like Pluto Journals.
PET’s investments aim to add value to companies that advance its charitable objectives, to defend world-leading research in the social sciences and to support innovative new publishing.
PROJECTS
PET’s projects aim to create and share knowledge in the public interest.
These include the Ameena Gafoor Institute, the Decolonial Centre and the Global Icon Series.
