tHE DECOLONIAL CENTRE

The Decolonial Centre is an open forum for education and advocacy. It seeks to unify individuals, organisations, unions, activists and academics under a shared legacy of anticolonialism.

Seminars & Debates

We want to decolonise our curricula in our high schools and universities. In the meantime, we will lead by example and make it our top priority to circulate the kinds of powerful ideas that a truly decolonised worldview ought to be made of.

Historical Awareness

Anti-colonialism is a rich tapestry of struggle. From the independence  movements of the 20th and 21st century, to the anti-imperialist movement of the 19th, the anti-colonial tradition is a repository of theories and practices that can help us advance decolonisation today. We want our audience to situate themselves within the centuries long struggle for self-determination and human rights by making them aware of the many struggles that preceded our existence.

A Forum

Whether we are speaking of colonialism, neo-colonialism, or even some of the new colonialisms that have emerged in the 21st century, what is certain is that we need a forum to bring peoples’ around the world challenging them. We aim to be this forum.

Furthering Decolonisation

From New Caledonia, to the Western Sahara and from Palestine to Kurdistan, we often forget that the process of decolonisation has never finished. Our organisation will be committed to finishing the cause of independence that was started by so many of our ancestors.
